We're hitting the homestretch of our regrassing project as we've now sprigged all fairways (except for 50 yards of so on #6) and we've sodded all slopes / contours around greens (besides #6 and practice greens).
These remaining areas should be wrapped up in the next couple of days and we anticipate to sprig greens on Thursday.
The sprigging process on greens should take two days to complete so hopefully by the weekend, we'll have all our new grass on property, planted, and growing!
Again, I want to send a huge thank you to the team from Golf Sculptors as well as our team here at Shadow Hawk for all the hard work and hours put into this project. You're dedication and effort to making this property better is second to none.
Here is a breakdown of some of the work that has been going on:
Our Driving Range Tee is growing in nicely and we've been ramping up the maintenance on the surface over the last week or so. We've mowed it, topdressed it with sand, and today we got to go over it with a heavy duty roller.
All these different practices are going to help smooth out the surface, help eliminate sod seams, and firm up the ground. I'm very pleased to see the quality of the grass up there and it's only going to get better day after day.

An important part of the grow in has been keeping the grass hydrated. We have a superintendent here sun up to sun down running irrigation to make sure we keep plenty of water on the sprigs so they don't dry out.
My superintendent team has done a great job learning our irrigation software and making it work to their advantage. At anytime, we are running around 3000 gallons per minute of water on the property. For comparison, your home garden hose puts out around 10 gallons per minute.

Extensive tree work has been going on while we've been closed. Justin Engel, our Director of Golf, has been instrumental giving his input on areas that need to be addressed from a playability and safety stand point. Here on #4 we've removed many of the limbs down the right side of the hole that were blocking the right portion of the green from the tee box.
We've repaired the wooden fence that represents the border between Shadow Hawk and Black Hawk on #12 and #13. All gaps now have boards again and the only access point between the two properties is now by the Lake as you cross the bridge on #12. We will address that area with a dedicated path and keep it just as an access point for maintenance.

#13 Property Fence looking towards the green. We've reclaimed a lot of the room to the right of the fairway bunkers on this hole all the way down to the putting green.
We went over all the tee surfaces with our aerifier and we will take the heavy duty roller over them starting tomorrow. The holes we create will soften up the tee surface a bit and once we put the heavy roller on top of this new surface, it will help smooth out some imperfections and help flatten up the tee tops even more, producing a better stance for when you address your tee shots.

Additional drainage has been added to the front of #18 approach & #3 approach. These drains will help move excess moisture off the surface, allowing for firmer conditions in these areas. We'll continue to identify and add drainage as needed.
Thanks for reading and being a member.
