It's been quite the transformation property wide over the last few weeks as we've really hit our stride growing some turf. The key to our success has been consistent, timely applications of our fertilizers, water management, and mowing frequencies.

These practices combined together have given the plants the tools they need to continue to spread out and fill in voids.

Water management on our putting surfaces has allowed our roots to stretch deeper and deeper into the ground. On most days now, we just hydrate our greens early on in the morning with our overhead sprinklers and then we negotiate the rest of the day using our moisture meters and hoses.

The red arrow in the picture shows the tips of the roots on this plant almost 4" down into the sand profile. Healthy, long roots means we're on our way to developing healthy putting surfaces. The key for us heading into Fall is to continue this process and establish even more roots.

#14 Fairway, along with #8, #13, & #16 were sprigged again back on August 9th. We applied some new techniques this go around managing these holes specifically and we've had a lot better success. The picture on top was from 3 weeks ago, the one on the bottom was taken yesterday.

All Fairways are now being mowed at just under 1". We'll continue to drop the heights of cut to get closer to the .5" mark we typically play on over the next 60 days of so.

We expect to sod any larger voids in the fairways in September. A good example is the hill on the right side of the fairway as you approach #1 Green.

Greens are performing really well overall and we've been aggressively working the surfaces. The picture above is our sand drop spreader in action as it top dresses the chipping green with our sand mix. We use the same sand that the greens were constructed with to ensure combability and avoid any layering issues of the sands.

We use large brushes to work the sand into the profile and help distribute it down into any low spots. It's a time consuming process but the results are worth the hard work.

#2 Green currently. Some of the greens are getting really close to full turf coverage.

We rented a heavy duty roller again to help continue firming up our tees and range tee. We plan on trying it out next week on the greens as well to smooth out any little bumps and imperfections.

I appreciate all the hard work of our staff, especially my leadership team down here in agronomy. Justin, Andy, Jeff, and Jake have made a lot of sacrifices working long hours and staying late into the evening to keep a close eye on the course.

We've recently announced that we'll be opening the driving range tee on Saturday, September 6th. Prior to opening, we completed a successful verticut of the tee surface and heavy topdressing. These practices help ensure a firm and even stance as you address the ball.

Thank you for reading and being a member.
